Hacker Infiltrates South African Websites, Says Nigeria And Zimbabwe Are Next

A South African hacker who goes by the Twitter name Paladin has infiltrated the websites of South Africa’s Department of Labour and SA Express.
This is according to South African news website News24 who noted that Paladin’s reason for the attack was that “the current South African government is greedy, and it needs to change”.

The hacker whose twitter handle is @VirusSec also disclosed that he would  be targeting Nigerian and Zimbabwean government websites soon.

News24 said that Paladin had informed its journalist on Friday evening to take a look at the country’s Department of Labour website.

The journalist checked the website and noticed no abnormalities.

Paladino contacted him again after a few minutes asking him to check again. The journalist checked and found the website was totally inaccessible.

However the website was back to normal after another few minutes,

The hacker who took responsibility for these cyber crimes told News24 that the decision to inform the journalist was so as  to bar South Africa’s government from denying the attacks.

Following this the website for SA Express,, was infiltrated by the hacker on Saturday but became functional by Sunday morning.

News24 added that the government’s Communication and Information Systems spokesperson Phumla Williams was interrogated but noted that she could not comment on the matter because facts have not been made available to her.

Paladin also claimed responsibility for cyber attacks on the websites of the Presidency, the Department of Environmental Affairs and the Cybersecurity Hub last month.
